Lesson plan for the day:

Bell rings: 5m - Slide 2
  • Students are ready to learn: notebook is in front of them, they write date & objectives
  • Do attendance
  • Ask for volunteers to read aloud all slides and all activities (write their names for participation)
    • They read the date, objectives both in English and Spanish
Important reminders: 2m - Slide 3
  • Students volunteer to read these two important reminders aloud.
Pre-evaluation: 25m - Slide 4
  • Students volunteer:
    • To read the objectives and instructions in the slide.
    • To pass the pre-evaluation to everyone in the class.
    • To pick up pre-evaluations for you after the activity is over.
  • No cellphone needed for this activity.
Actividad 1: 20m - Slide 5
  • Students
    • volunteer to read the slide for you.
    • use their notebooks to write the questions and answers
    • use their phone briefly to earn in Spanish for question 1
    • write 5 places in downtown Madrid, and 2 on the outskirts
    • write in Spanish a description of Madrid in their notebooks.
Actividad 2: 30m - Slide 6
  • Students
    • volunteer reading the slide
    • pass hoja de verbos around.
    • write the objectives in their notebook.
    • use slide 7 to complete this activity.
    • pair up to pre-read, identify 5 cognates and 5 important words they already know.
    • pair up to conjugate the verbs in the verb worksheet in present tense.
Tarea: 10minutes before the bell rings.
  • Students
    • help you read this slide.
    • start completing this homework before the bell rings.
Exit ticket: Nombra un lugar de Madrid
As student exit, they give high-fives to teacher and they say a place in Madrid.

Notes for sub: Spanish 4 - 75m class - P5, P6, P8 in room B-48.  Prep P7 in B-50 (ask Nick Verbon for desk and student lists). Students will work independently, with partners and in groups today, but they will need your help with timing. Remind students to transition their practice from list to list.  Students may use their cellphones for practicing vocabulary, but please, remind them not to text, and to have one ear available at all times. They shouldn't be in their phones all the time, just to practice the vocabulary quizlets, then they need to talk to different people to practice.  5 minutes before the class is over, have them clean up and organize everything.  Here is the plan that students are going to help you read aloud (after they also write the date and objectives in their notebooks). Remind them to open the student guide to access the quizlets in their phones. If someone doesn't have a phone, they can partner up with a peer to practice.  ...
